International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is coming up, and here in California, composting is front of mind in 2024! SB1383 is starting to ramp up, cities are rolling out green bin programs, community composters are growing, facilities are expanding, farmers are apply compost, and the Association of Compost Producers is working on projects to educate everybody who eats about their important role in the food (+ compost) system.
Separating food "waste" from trash is the first and most important thing that every person can do in their home, work, or school. But many people don't realize that their food waste gets composted into healthy soil, which then helps grow even more healthy and nutritious food for our bodies and communities. This ICAW, May 5-11, we're dedicated to working together to organize fun, informative, and far-reaching events in your community.
